Dogs at our Hobart Home

The dogs below are waiting for adoption from our Hobart Home. If you’re interested in adopting one of these dogs, please click the link below to make an appointment to visit the Home. Dogs are being adopted throughout the day, and while we try and update Facebook and the website as soon as a dog is adopted, we cannot guarantee that any particular dog will still be there when you visit.

We only take visitors by appointment. This helps us to limit the amount of people in the adoption area, reducing stress on the dogs. Bookings can only be made on the day and for two days ahead.

Frank should have been in Led Zeppelin, because everything we hear about this guy points to him having a whole lotta love. Frank’s a Foxhound-Brittany Spaniel x who is a year old and weighs 38kg as of March 2024. “Frank is such a loving dog,” we’re told. “He’s got a lovely demeanour. He’s a beautiful, sweet boy with a lot of love to give. “He loves his people and playing. He’s extremely clumsy, loves cuddles, food, and climbing on your shoulders. He loves being carried if you can hold him and is basically a giant lap dog.” See? That IS a lotta love. We're told Frank knows sit, stop, go, wait and and lie down, comes when called, and is toilet trained. He's still an overgrown puppy in many ways and can let his excitement overwhelm him when people are about. He's going to need a family who can provide him with some training and guidance to help him become a polite young dog. Frank has lived with another dog he got on well with and has been social with other dogs at our Homes, so he might like a doggy mate to keep him company in his new home. He's not suitable for a home with cats. 🐾 Loving boy 🐾 Loves people 🐾 Needs training 🐾 Loves cuddles 🐾 Did we mention love? Every dog is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, and has had a standard health check. Each dog has also been behaviourally assessed. Xeanna is such a warm, rich, vibrant colour. She's also quite the hunk of chunk and has been christened "the Orange Wombat" by staff at our Hobart Home. She’s a Staffy who is about six and a half years old and weighs 27.5kg. We are told she knows sit, no, wait, “on your mat”, “up”, comes when called (sometimes), shakes paws, and is semi-toilet trained. “Xeanna is a big lap dog,” her information states. “She is a kind, protective girl who loves snuggles, and dressing up in doggy outfits — even pirate ones with arms etc.” Shiver me timbers! Staff tell us she can get the zoomies and “throws her weight around by getting excited and jumping like the barrel she is”. Xeanna likes trips to the beach, dam or river, and travels well in a car. She has lived with children in the past, although she may be suited to a place with older children due to that weight she likes to throw around. UPDATE: Lita has been Adopted 19.4.24💙🧡 🐾 Just Rhea and Lita remain from our litter of nine puppies so we have updated their profile graphic 🐾 🐾 Katana, Roman, Randy and Isla were adopted 12/4/24! 🐾 🐾 Finn and Kelani were adopted 13/4/24 🐾 🐾 Alexa was adopted 15/4/24 🐾 What’s the collective noun for a litter of Beagle x pups? A Chaos of Crosses, perhaps? We have nine of these little darlings at our Hobart Home — girls Alexa, Rhea, Lita, Isla, Katana and Kelani, and boys Roman, Randy and Finn. They are nine weeks old. They weighed in at between 3.6-4.7kg on their last time on the scales at the end of March, but of course they all have plenty of growing to do. Like all puppies, positive training and socialisation experiences with people and other dogs at this early age will set them on a great path to becoming well-behaved and well-adjusted adults. If you look closely, you’ll see Nova has the most delightful little black beard framing her bottom jaw. Don’t you just want to tickle those whiskers? She’s a Smithfield-Staghound x who is almost four months old and weighs a little under 13kg, with plenty of growing to do. We are told she knows sit and is toilet trained, and sometimes comes when called. At her age obedience training is a work in progress that should be ongoing. She will also need socialisation with people and other dogs, and gentle introductions to the wider world. Nova can be a little over-the-top at playtime so isn’t suited for a home with young children until she learns some manners. She has lived with another dog, and cats and chickens she enjoyed chasing. Tino sounds like he should be in a sitcom about three Italian-American brothers from the Bronx (Tino, Gino and Nino) who open a pizza joint with disastrous consequences. Every episode ends with the trio running in a smoke-filled kitchen shouting: “Fi-yah! Fi-yah!” Okay, maybe we’ll leave the television writing to the experts. Tino was a stray so we don’t even know if he can even cook. We think he’s a Boxer x about two years old. He weighs 30kg. “Tino is very puppy-like and will need help with training,” staff at our Hobart Home say. “He is very excitable and can be jumpy and mouthy. He does know sit.” Well, they do say Boxers have the longest puppyhood of any breed. Tino will need a home where his humans will be able to commit to ongoing training. Because of his size and his puppyish nature, it’s probably best he go to a home with older children. 🐾 Hey, yo!
