The Tasmanian Canine Defence League Inc. (TCDL) is a non-profit organisation caring for Tasmania’s stray, lost and abandoned dogs. The TCDL, operating as the Dog’s Homes of Tasmania, has Homes in Burnie, Devonport and Hobart.

The TCDL is committed to:

  • adopting dogs and puppies into new homes
  • promoting responsible dog ownership
  • providing the best possible care to all lost, stray or unwanted dogs
  • promoting the de-sexing of dogs
  • promoting the principle that all animals are entitled to live free of unnecessary suffering or pain
  • ‘Get to Zero’ euthanasia

The TCDL Board is made up of members who meet monthly and oversee the operations of the Dogs’ Homes in Hobart, Burnie and Devonport. Membership of the TCDL Board is a voluntary role.

Become a Member

By becoming a member of the TCDL, you can play an active role in helping us to continue our vital work.  New membership application requires final approval by the TCDL Board.   Annual subscriptions are valid for a financial year and if the membership fee is not paid each year the person ceases to be a member.

Each individual Member, when financial, is entitled, upon request, to receive written notice of Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings; to nominate Directors; to vote at the annual election of Directors at any General Meeting; and to receive an Annual Report. A member may raise any matter with the Board that the Member sees fit to raise, in accordance with procedure.  Further information (Board Members and current TCDL Constitution) is available under the Governance section on this web site.
